On a gloomy Sunday afternoon at Elmwood Park, the Independence Blue Devil United U11 Girls took on undefeated Jackson in a Division 3 West showdown. Though storm clouds loomed, the skies held just long enough for BDU to deliver one of their most thrilling comebacks of the season—clinching a 3-2 victory and moving into sole possession of first place with a perfect 4-0 record.
The first half was all BDU. They dominated possession, created several dangerous chances, and even rattled the post—but couldn’t break through. Despite their efforts, the game remained scoreless at halftime.
Early in the second half, Jackson shifted momentum. They struck first off a well-placed corner kick to take a 1-0 lead, and minutes later, extended it to 2-0 with a scrappy finish in the box.
